Away status not set
« on: December 13, 2006, 06:23:47 AM »
If I type "/away SOMEREASON", and then I (or someone else) do a /whois on me, I can not see the away status.

That is correct.
IceChat does not send the actual away message to the server, it uses its own internal methods.
If you want to send the away message to the server, you will need to use a raw command.
/raw away blah blah

That is, no one can actually see you're away (even if he uses IceChat too) if you just type /away MSG?

Yes, this is why IceChat has a way to change your nickname to something like Nick[Away] when you set yourself away.
This is the way IceChat has always been, it has its own built in away system. If you wish to send the information to the server, just use the /raw command. An alias can easily be made up so it does both.

hmm, i was messing around with this and for some reason this doesn't work, see any reasons why?

Code: [Select]
Sub away(channel,reason,servernumber)
SendCommand "/raw away " & reason,servernumber
if len(reason) > 0 then SendCommand "/describe " & channel & " is now away; " & reason,servernumber else SendCommand "/describe " & channel & " is now back.",servernumber
End Sub

thats the script file I'm using, And in Icechat Settings under away settings I put this:

/! away $chan|$awayreason|$currentservernumber

But it does nothing. See why?
