IRC on a PDA.
« on: October 06, 2006, 09:59:55 PM »
I recently was given a Blackberry as a gift. I found a program that allows me to use IRC on my Blackberry 7280.
It comes in very handy since I cannot use any chat at work (IS Policies). The program is jmIRC. I realy enjoy ICEchat 5. I know it is a tall order, but could there be a day when there is a ICEchat PDA? BTW it is a Java app.

No, there will not be an IceChat for a PDA.

Well, funny how things change.

I got myself a Pocket PC, and low and behold, its quite easy to program on it.

I have already started on an extremely basic client for it, and making it in Embedded Visual basic (eVB).
I got it to connect to a server and join a channel, in about 45 minutes, and I can already chat with it.

So, who knows, if time allows me, I may work on this little project, and expand on it.
But I dont expect it to be very elaborate, as I am limited a fair amount. But hey, see what happens with it.

I am using a Dell Axim X30.
I already got the program to the point where I can connect and chat already, but it is rather crude still :)
But hey, I am having fun with it.
