Hello :-D. I am a very new user of Ice Chat....I downloaded version 5 recently and version 7 today, and I have to say that I love it....Of course I will probably have lots of questions over the course of time...There is one that I'd like to ask now. Is it possible to have the main screen "fill" from the top down, as opposed from the bottom up?....I know, I know lol...I'm being pedantic...It's just that's what I'm used to and it would be nice to be able to do if at all possible...Thanks so much. Gabs.

Hello
I am not 100% sure if what you meant was text coming into the chat windows. Version5 started from the top and worked it way down, but this is no longer the case with IceChat 7, as it starts from the bottom, and moves up. This can not be changed, as the chat window controls are made to be this way, aas they are a new control for Version 7.

I've just installed version 7 and also the latest version 5.  I notice in 5, we have the option to edit and add emoticons, but cannot find that optin in 7. Is it no longer available or am I just missing it somewhere?

Love the program!

Thanks in advance,
Kass

Yes, the emoticon organizer is removed from the program.
To edit the manually, go to the Emoticons Folder, from the IceChat7 folder, and add the Emoticon Files there.
They need to be BMP Files, 19x19 in size.
You would then edit the icons.ini file, and add any emoticons to the end of the file, following how the file goes.
The format is:

n57=filename.bmp trigger

The number needs to increase for each added emoticon. Most of the triggers are usually (x) with some letter in brackets.
Also make sure you have no emoticons with the same trigger, or they will not work.

Thanks again... I was able to edit and add emoticons.. and quite easily. :)

Now ... if you could help me with another question. I looked through the boards and wasn't able to find anything on this. Is there a way to play other soundfiles through IceChat in addition to wavs? With clients such as mIRC and pIRCh, chatters are able to play mp3 and wma files. Any way to do that with Ice?

Thanks!
Kass

Sorry, IceChat only has the capability of playing WAV files. If I was to allow to play mp3's or such, I would have to code in some kind of an mp3 player, which I just dont see as necessary for an IRC Client. You could however probably make a script that opens your fave mp3 player, and play the music through there.
There is the IceAmp Script in the scripts section, that controls WinAmp.
IceAmp will get updated soon enough to work better with IceChat 7.

Thanks Snerf...  Tried IceAmp but can't get it to work with 7. (probably user ignorance lol) ... I'll wait on an update or a scripter lol

Yes, I am sure some of the scripts in the download section will need a little work to work with IceChat 7, as some of them used "Addins" which are no longer supported in IceChat 7, as they are not needed anymore.

 :-D Good morning Snerf.

First of all, I love Ice Chat! But there are a couple of questions I'd like to ask please. I suppose they may come under the heading of "wishes", but you may already have the answers lol.

- In the IRC server that I use I may be in several channels at one time  - I host in these  - I noticed that if I go "away" in one channel it effects them all in the same way. Is it possible somehow to be "away" in one channel but remain active in the others? AND is it possible to have each chatter in the channel display their own personal colour permanently?

Thank you very much
