Idle Time
« on: May 06, 2006, 07:35:02 PM »
When I connect to IRC, the idle time is usually the time I last inputted text in a channel or query. However, sometimes when I whois my own name, the idle time seems to be the last time I moved my mouse in IceChat! So my idle time becomes very short, ranging from a few seconds to a minute. Any idea what's going on?

I prefer the former behavior as this is how it works in mIRC and other clients. Also for privacy reasons, I'd prefer other people not know when I'm using the computer (the idle feature is also disabled in my AIM). I don't want to ignore anyone but sometimes I want to do other stuff instead of actively chatting...

If you have Server Lag enabled in the Server Editor for a server, it will send a ping message out every 3 minutes.
The server will then show you not as being idle.
Disable that, problem solved.

Yeah, I have been playing around with that setting. It was disabled this time and I had to restart the program to make the change take effect.

Thanks for the super fast reply Snerf. :-D
