DCC problem
« on: April 10, 2006, 06:50:52 AM »
I've got some problems with recieving files with dcc, it doesn't work. I can send files, ok, but I can't recieve them, they won't just start downloading, and the sender doesn't get any confirmation that I have accepted the file. I limited the port range to 1024-1025, because I opened up those ports on my switch.

Build 20060402

Did you have any problems with the previous versions, or is this a new problem?

iirc, I was able to recieve files in build 20060108, atleast over a LAN, but I don't think I ever tried it outside that LAN.

Can you still receive files over the LAN?

A quick way to check whats up, is to simply try a DCC Chat with someone.
If that refuses to connect as well, then its most likely a firewall isue.

it works if I request the dcc chat, but it doesn't work if someone else requests the chat.

"->> DCC Chat - Error # 10060-The attempt to connect timed out"

that is the error mesasge I get, which is pretty self-explanatory.

It would be plain and simple if it wouldn't work when I start the chat, but it does, so I don't know what's wrong

It works now. The problem turned out to be at the other end of the line.

It seems that it's more important that the sender has his/her ports open.

Thanks anyway ^^

Good to hear.

DCC can be such a pain at times, there are so many different things that can go wrong, and that doubles since it has to be working on both sides.
