DCC outgoing dont work
« on: May 11, 2004, 07:40:06 AM »
i've notice a dcc problem. i have

tested for two days and found the problem. the lookup method of icechat is my problem. i type //say $ip and i see icechat

uses my homenetworkipadres 192.168.0.1 and thats why it don't work.

with mirc i have the same problem, when changes

the lookupmethod from normal to server the ipadress will be correct and the dcc will work in two ways (outgoing and

incoming).

for example *URL REMOVED*

in icechat there is no way to change from normal to server

?

version 5.20 050904

You are on a private network, so you need to

configure DCC for such.
You need to enable the DCC Firewall settings.
Go to DCC options, click on the Firewall

Tab.
Place check marks in both boxes, Connect DCC with Router/ICS and AutoGet IP.
Make sure that you have selected the

correct ports that are open if you have blocked most of the DCC Ports.

it has not done his job. :( i have a dynamic IP-adress, so my IP is never be

the same again after a reboot and icechat only remembered my old IP. Now i have to fill in my IP everytime before doing a

DCC. Is there a way to renew the IP at every DCC?

Well, it is supposed to get your new IP each time you connect

to a server, as long as "Autoget IP" is enabled in DCC Options.

A quick way to check is to see what IP Address is

shown in the box below, it is not able to be edited if "Autoget IP" is enabled, so you will need to uncheck the box, and then

erase whats in the IP Box below, and then re-check the Autoget IP Box again.
Then connect to a server, and when connected,

open DCC Options again, and see if the IP is in there again. You can do a /whois on yourself, or a /dns on yourself on the

server, and see if these 2 IP addresses match.

i have tested it again and

again. the first 2 maybe 3 times the /dns and autoget IP do matched. but after that it won't work anymore and he remembered

the old IP.  /dns really always shown the right IP.

when erasing the old IP and recheck the Autoget IP box, the

Autoget IP stays empty. disconnect from all servers, disconnect from internet, closing icechat, reboot my computer, it stays

empty....

The IP in the Router ICS IP Box will not get filled in again

until you make a connection to an IRC Server, so if it is erased, you need to re-connected to a server to fill in a new

value.

Is there a particular irc server/network you are using, or have you tried this on many of them?

I would

like to see if we can trace the problem.
Also,are you on dialup?

After

making a connection with an IRC server, the IP box stays empty. And yes, I've tried this on many servers/networks. but if i

type /dns then it is always correct. and i have cable-internet. i have found a document called "error.txt"

Code: [Select]
11-5-2004 11:50:53:Module: frmDccFile Function: DCC Connect:0 Error

Number:76 : Path not found
11-5-2004 11:50:56:Module: frmDccFile Function: ParseData:60

Error Number:52 : Bad file name or number
11-5-2004 15:45:17:Module: frmDccFile Function:

ParseData:100 Error Number:5 : Invalid procedure call or argument
11-5-2004 16:09:32:Module:

clsServer Function: SetConnectedState:560:0 Error Number:13 : Type mismatch
11-5-2004

16:09:38:Module: clsServer Function: SetConnectedState:560:0 Error Number:13 : Type

mismatch

The script doesn't give any results from the last 3 day testing with DCC in error.txt

Do you enable "mode i" when you connect to servers?

Is

this option enabled in the Server Editor.

Can you give me an example of servers/networks you logon to.

And if

you dont mind, email your icechat.ini file to support@icechat.net , perhaps we can figure out something that way as

well.

And, on a small note, Icechat is not a "script", its a "client", there is a big difference between the 2.

:)

Thanks

here i am again..... i have

found the problem i think. on some networks who don't use ident-check (so logging in is be more faster than normal) icechat

don't pick up my new IP. on other networks where they use ident at logging there works AutogetIP fine.

it ís not a

great solution, but if i want to DCC i first join a network with ident to let icechat grab my new IP so i can DCC on a

network without identcheck......

i hope u can fixed it on other way ?

Ok, I am sure I have found a problem, but I am not sure if it

is the same issue with you.

Could you give me an example of a server where ident does not work, so I can test it to

make sure. I extra the IP information when I send the mode +i to servers, but it seems some servers do not send back your IP

info in the RAW message, just the nickname. What I have done then in this case, is send a /dns command, and then retreive

your IP.

But I will need a server from you, one that you have a problem with, to test this.
