Some more DCC functions added, passive dcc pretty functional for incoming. New binary added as well on CodePlex for all those wanting to update to this version.

Alpha 14.4 released today, add more DCC File Receiving support, and starting of Auto-Resume. May still have some errors, but it is a good start.

A new binary install should be released when the majority of the DCC Send/Receive featured are added.

With more fixes, and DCC File Receiving added, we make another step forward.
If a File exists when receiving a file, it will automatically add a (1), (2) , etc to the end of the file name.

Also added a couple more DCC options in the IceChat Options window, default File Receving/Sending folders, and a place to put your IP Address if the client can not automatically detect it on connection.

IceChat 2009 has now released a full install at CodePlex.com. This is a full installer for anyone who wishes to try out IceChat 2009 without needing to compile the source code.

Please feel free to leave any comments, and if you wish to make any suggestions, or major problems you have found, please leave them in the Forums.

This Alpha release is very stable, and you should not have any major problems with it, you just may find some options missing.

Thank you to all who have helped with the testing of IceChat 2009.

IceChat 2009 Alpha 6 has released its source and binaries at CodePlex.com. There are many more additions and fixes to this latest build. The client is becoming more usable and user friendly with each new release.

We are still looking for people to help out with the project. Feel free to drop by #icechat2009 channel on irc.quakenet.org if you are interested.

IceChat 2009 Development has started up, and going full force. The SourceForge Project page has been updated, and Source Code will be available there. To help with development, we encourage you to help out any way you can. This will help speed up the development process, and get IceChat 2009 out to a usable beta version, that much faster.

IceChat 2009 is being written in C# .Net 2.0 using Visual C# 2008 Express Edition, which is freely downloadable from Microsoft’s Website. With using .Net, IceChat 2009 will be available across multiple platforms using the Mono Cross Platform .Net Cross Platform Framework.

It is with great regret, that IceChat 8 development has ceased. We were hoping for it to be an open source project, that would get help from other people. The main problem was, we lack the time to write a entirely new client, and no volunteers stepped forward to help.

So, this brings us to IceChat 9. IceChat 9 will be based on IceChat 7, with an improved User Interface, and other updates and fixes. It is currently being Beta tested, and shows a great deal of progress. The main change is, it will now be a Tabbed User Interface. IceChat 9 will be closed source, as was IceChat 7.

Thank you again, and you all will look forward to IceChat 9.

There has been some talk of IceChat 8 in the #icechat support channel. Snerf has started work on IceChat 8 , re-writing it in C# 2005, so it will be a complete re-write. The project will also be open source. But development has slowed down for the time being, and only the IRC Library has been developed so far. The main GUI for the program is still in the process of being made, so only a very simple, test client is functional at this time. There is no time frame set for IceChat 8, but it will be until 2008 before anything usable is available. IceChat 7 took 18 months to complete, so saying that IceChat 8 could take 18 months as well, would not surprise us.
