I can dcc in no problem.  However, I send

I am using the firewall that comes from windows XP.  I do not have service pack

What am I doing wrong?

Are you sure the other person is receiving it? What do they

report on their end?

More details needed.

Sorry, I should've told you that!  :-)

They say they

get the requets to accept, they accept, then the download box appears saying "Accepting send" but nothing happens.  It just

hangs until it times out saying "connection failed".

Thanks in advance for the help.

Are you behind some kind of a firewall/router?

From

the sound of the problem, you are, and you need to make sure the DCC Ports are open on the FireWall, and that IceChat is

setup to use a FireWall for DCC.

Go to the DCC menu, and options. Click on the FireWall Tab, and check anything you

need to check.  If your PC IP Address is anything like 192.168.x.x, then you definately need the 2 check boxes checked. Then

re-connect to whatever server you are on, and try send again.

The Box on the FireWall Tab, when "get AutoIP" is

checked, would show your PC/Router proper Internet IP Address, after a full connection to any server is established, this box

will get filled in.

Actually, I spoke too soon, :-(

I tried

DCCing between myself using different clients and it does work that way (although it's useless I thought it would be a good

way to test).

But later, I tried it on someone else, but it didn't go through.

Here are my firewall settings

:

(unchecked) Connect DCC with Router/ICS (it didn't work when it was checked)

(checked) AutoGet

IP

Router/Firewall/ICS IP Address 64.252.101.225

DCC Port Range from 4999 to 5000

Now I'm on DSL but

no router from the modem to my computer.  As I said, the only firewall I'm using is the one provided with XP (not

upgraded).

Sorry to keep bothering you.

Thanks so much for your help.

Have you given IceChat permission in your FireWall? Did you

add that port range to the config for it in the FireWall settings in Control Panel?

You had better have a look over

it, because your problem does lie there somewhere, DCC works perfectly fine in IceChat, your firewall is simply blocking the

outgoing request.

If you need some help diagnosing, come to the #icechat support channel, and see if I am around, I

can open up the debug window, and see if your client is properly setup when it sends the DCC requests. Or if you know of

someone with a good knowledge of IRC, get them to look at the raw messages you send, and make sure your using the right IP,

etc.

I've been having the exact same issue, and I've even tried

turning off my firewall, but it still does work.

My suggestion again is, come to #icechat, and see if I am

there, and I can help you work it out. It is just much faster that way, then sending a million msgs back and forth. :)
