Good day everyone,

I'm new to this

chat client and forum, but I must say, as a beginner's VB programmer, it's AWESOME what you did.

I've spoke with

IRBMe on the chat lately, and told him I wanted to implement this chat in my office. We are currently using Visual IRC '97,

an old version of IRC client.

Before implementing it on at large in my office, I've decided to test it on a few

machines. So far, everything went pretty good but found a possible bug, and since I'm planning to maybe install it at large,

I needed your help to fix this bug. Before thinking it was a bug, I tried to reproduce it as much a couple of times before

reporting it.

Server info:
ConferenceRoom by WebMaster version 1.8.7.1-SEC

(old)

Current Client:
Megalith's 32 bit Visual IRC '97 Version 1.00

Bug

Report:

I've 4 station with IceChat 5.11 build 020604.

For the example, I'll use 2 person.

Jack ->

IceChat user
Karl -> VIRC '97 user

If Karl using Visual IRC or Xirc, sends a private message by clicking on the

name of Jack, Jack won't receive anything. So, no pop ups, no nothing.

Then, if the Jack (who doesn't know he got a

PM) click on Karl's name to PM him, double click won't do anything at all... only way is to /msg Karl... and still, if Karl

messages back, Jack won't receive any popup.

After hours of testing, we tried a totally different IRC server. I've

used UnrealIRCd and tried it quickly with someone and seemed like the bug wasn't there...

Is there any ways to fix

this?

Thanks for your help and have a great day!

Are you saying that the problem occurs on the Conference Room

IRCd, not others, like UnrealIRCD?

If so, could you give me a server URL to a conference room ircd, so I can test this

myself.

Thanks

Thanks for your answer Snerf.

I don't have any

Conference Room server unless the one on our network, which is not accessible from outside. Therefore, I cannot test it with

you, as I would liked to.

I'm trying to find what could be the reason for such a thing, since people using Mirc

doesn't seem to have this people with IceChat, it's really with VIRC, or some other not popular IRC client.

Is there

anything I can do to help you solving this bug? I would have loved trying your beta version, see if the bug is present

there.

Thanks for your support, and have a great day.

Well, open the DEBUG window and see if you see any PRIVMSG

calls coming in. But your saying you don't think IceChat is the problem? Does it work if you send IceChat to IceChat?

I just found ConferenceRoom 2.0.1-SEC-win32-ws2  ircd, and

sent mesages between 2 icechat clients, and 1 icechat and 1 mirc client, and no problems.
So, I just cant see this as

being a bug in IceChat, but in other client programs.

Well, thanks a lot Snerf for your help. I guess we're using

an older version of Conference Room which could be the issue. We haven't got any problems with users using MIRC ->

IceChat... It was more Visual IRC 1.0 with IceChat.

Anyway, the bug seemed not constant. Sometimes it works, sometimes

it doesn't. I guess we'll survive since we might change of server to Unreal IRCd.

Thanks for your help. More

questions will be on its way later on :P Have yourself a good one!
