Aliases don't work (/about command)|echo on Windows 10
« on: November 18, 2016, 05:07:20 PM »
The Aliases (for instance /about) doesn't work on Windows 10 (haven't checked the popup menus yet) in the Icechat Editor. I recently upgraded to Win 10 from 8.1, since the lappy service center had to fix the freezing issue (so I lost the Data folder & _all_ my files were wiped out!) Previously I had a problem with a certain Ice Chat build or something not displaying on /about command (that was when my lappy was Win 8.1.)
PS: On my 2-in-one laptop Ice Chat installed just fine (Win 10 Home) but on my Dell laptop (Win 10 Pro) the Aliases & Popup menus in Icechat Editor were blank! Maybe it was 'cause I uploaded the 2-in-one laptops Ice Chat setup file to dropbox & installed it on my Dell; don't know. Anyway I copied the Aliases from my working 2-in-1 lappy & tested it with a custom Alias ("/d .bang" (command to shoot ducks in a Duck hunt channel.)) --that worked (custom macro.)

All aliases dont work, or just some of them?

I know of some people have a problem with /about and Windows 10, but since I could not get any more information, nor any way to duplicate the problem, I could not fix it.

Is this the same alias commands you had before, or a clean install?
Pasting your current aliases would help.

From a clean install. & it's good to know people are having similar issues on Win 10. & it's awfully slow to launch too (during the splash screen.) Okay I will paste the Aliases when I get back on my laptop --the "/d .bang" Alias I created works though. not all Aliases, only some of them don't work..

Oh wait! It worked in chat, only a bit inaccurate.. "<f4t4l_3rr0r> Operating System  [Windows 8 Build No. 9200]  - Uptime [18 hrs 55 mins 34 secs]  - IceChat 9.14 http://www.icechat.net" I'm on Windowz 10 & was on for about an hour tops.

Yes, with the way of detecting the operating system Windows 10 or 8.1 it does not work properly, so its more of a Microsoft issue with regards to showing the proper OS (with their API calls). There are other ways I have read to detecting the OS, but I have not tested them.
It will always show as Windows 8 currently.
