IceChat 9 and VB Scripts
« on: April 04, 2013, 02:00:49 PM »
It would be great if we could run the old .ICE scripts inside IceChat 9, but the main issue is, today is a 64bit world, and the old script control is only 32bit, and will not load in a 64bit environment.

Now one solution that may work, is that we compile IceChat 9 as a 32bit app.
Currently, IceChat 9 loads either as a 32 or 64 bit application, because the framework is the targeted platform for how it is run, and that would be what the native OS is.

We can force it to be 32bit, thus, allowing us to load the 32bit MSScript control. I will run a few tests to see if this will work, and the attempt to load a few scripts, and see what happens.

If it all works, the VB Script Engine will just be loaded as a Plugin.

Any feedback appreciated.

If that does not work, how about a wrapper?
