Buddy List
« on: November 26, 2011, 04:29:08 AM »
I just downloaded Icechat 9 and I can't figure out how to add to the buddy list. There are no buttons at the bottom, the /buddylist command doesn't work, the help section talks about adding buddies through the edit server section but nothing seems to be there either. Is that something wrong in the program or is there something that I'm not doing?

Please wait for IceChat 9 RC3 to be released, it has all the issues fixed with the Buddy list.

Is it possible to create our own XML file with Nicks in the meantime?

RC3 will be released within a week, we are just finalizing the testing of it.

So expect it to be done by Feb 11.

I just downloaded the RC3 today and the Feb 13 update but still can't see any obvious way to modify the buddy list.  Where should we be able to do this?  Maybe its a bug I can report.

It is in the Server Editor, check Show Advanced Server Settings, and click on the Buddy List tab

Got it, thanks, now that you've pointed out where it is it makes sense that it be there, I didn't expect it to be an "advanced" option though since the buddy list is available in the right panel.

Intuitively, perhaps if there was a button at the bottom of the buddy list that opened a the settings to the currently selected server settings (or a dialog informing the use to choose one first if none is currently selected).

Anyway the "Enable" tick box is partially obscured by the "remove" button on my screen.  Not hard to figure out what it was but a cosmetic issue for you to check :)

Yes, the enable box glitch this was relayed to me, will be fixed in 3.12.

The buddylist still needs a little adjusting and such, just a matter of getting around to it.

Thanks
