Text Background Colour

I have searched the forums for this question but I'm still not sure, so i thought I'd ask.
Is it possible to select a background colour for text you type into a channel, not the channel background colour. Like this for example.. (cut from irc channel)

If you add a comma after a color code, it then chooses a background color.
IE: CTRL-K 4,8 .. is red text with a yellow background.

You can not have any spaces between the comma and the numbers, and you only type the control code once. IE: CTRL-K4,8.
