New to scripts
« on: February 13, 2008, 11:57:17 AM »
Forgive me this has been asked before or is a silly question but I have never used IRC before and have never even heard of scripts yet alone understand them.

What I'm after is a script that will say a greeting whenever I enter a certain room I use on a Internet game site as follows.

My name (/me) "greeting" so it comes up as "<my name> hello"

I only want it for one room not all if that can be done. Also if possible whenever I change from being away as well would be good.

Again sorry for such a simple question.

Simon

greeting script is rather simple
go to the script editor (CTRL+S) click the scripts tab and paste this:

on *:JOIN:#channel:/msg $chan Hello $nick

remeber to put in #channel the name for the channel... many people forget about it.

Save and exit

the time to edit your post should be more.... Didn't get what you wanted... The script i posted wont work like you want, it will just greet everyone that enters the channel

on ^:JOIN:#channel:/msg $chan Hello everyone

Replace #channel with the name of your channel. You can change the message to what you want.

Using ^ in ^:JOIN , means it will only trigger when you Join that channel, unlike *:JOIN, which means it triggers for everyone else that joins.

Is there a way I can put a time delay on this script?

I have set up a auto perform to identify myself but the script performs the greeting before I am recognized if I could delay the script for 20 seconds so it runs after the auto perform that would be great.

Turn on the AutoJoin delay option, in AutoJoin settings.
