IceChat 9 Problems / Re: Socket Exception Error
« Last post by Ndtm on November 12, 2017, 09:39:38 AM »
Ok that makes sense. I use eset and can't figure out how to add an exception for it. Does anyone here use eset and know how to do this?
I don't personally use it but googling "Eset firewall" gave https://support.eset.com/kb2843/?locale=en_US as the first non ad result

IceChat has been blocked by your firewall.
Generally, when the windows firewall sees a new program trying to access the internet, a popup will come up, to allow IceChat to allow access. You probably denied it.

You have to add IceChat to the Windows Firewall, or whatever Firewall you are using on your computer.

Chit Chat / Re: PM in Ice Chat

A normal IRC'er can not read other people's private messages.
You don't have to be in any channels to private message someone.

IceChat will not scroll down, if you have scrolled up at least 1/2 a page. The only time it forces a scroll down if you are higher then that, is if you add a new message.

You can use the Mousewheel to scroll as well, but you have to place your cursor in the inputbox for the mousewheel to work, same with the Page Up/Page Down keys.

If you are using Windows 10, there is a topic in the forum here on how to get your Mousewheel to work, if it does not.

IceChat 9 Wishlist / Auto-Scroll option for IceChat!

e-Mule (mainly a P2P client, though it has built-in IRC chat) has an Auto-Scroll option in its right-click menu when you right click the text-area. It would be a nice feature for IceChat without adding Pause, so you can scroll old posts without it scrolling below when new posts arrive. It also has a Reset option to clear all posts —pretty useful —only it lacks Ignore. Also, scrolling the posts with Page Up\ Down is not so easy, there should be a better way, like with Mouse Wheel or something, maybe it's already implemented, but I don't think it's fast enough. IceChat 9 Problems / Socket Exception Error
« Last post by techbcs on June 07, 2017, 07:39:52 AM »
I'm unable to connect to freenode using Icechat. I get the error below.

[08:04.18] -chat.freenode.net- *** Attempting to connect to chat.freenode.net (94.125.182.252) on port 6667
[08:04.18] ERROR: Socket Exception Error: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions 94.125.182.252:6667
[08:04.18] -chat.freenode.net- Waiting 60 seconds to re-connect to chat.freenode.net on port 6667

This also happens with Trillian. I am able to use Hexchat and ChatZilla. I'm hoping you guys might have an idea of what's happening because I like the Icechat interface much more than either of the others.

Thanks,
Brian
