Title: To add a language configuration
Post by: disease on May 27, 2004, 11:59:29 PM
To make support of different

languages of the interface, it is necessary to bear in a separate configuration file the text of windows, the menu and

expressions.

Russian users very much wait for occurrence of such opportunity. I personally Russian.

The given

text pereved with the help online of the translator (www.translate.ru)

A textbox which asks for the language when icechat is started

for the first time so that the user can choose the language he/she would like to use.
I could make a German translation if

you want me to.

We definately want IceChat 6 to have multi-language support.

The problem at the moment is how to implement it, and in the easiest way possible, so that new languages can be added

easily. A lot of thought is going into it though, and any ideas would be appreciated.

best way imho would be to use the .NET localized ressources.

they are told to be darn hard to understand for the first time but darn useful once you understand them.

Problem with using those is, there is a huge amount of work

involved in making new translations.

I am probably going to just read the data in from an XML file, and then the XML

File can easily be edited, for changing menus, etc.
