Title: Filtring to only text?
Post by: X-Fe@R on May 11, 2004, 07:20:33 AM
Good day,

I would have a question

about something specific in the application. We are using our old application Visual IRC, which was customized that only text

written by a user would be shown in the channel. Nothing else. I was wondering if it would be possible to do the same with

IceChat by some scripting or some modification in the code.

I've already unchecked all the option in the program

settings under IRC events so that everything will be shown in the Console and won't flash everytime some joins, get a @

(op), etc.

Let me give you an example.

Code: [Select]
[09:57] * User1 is now known as

[10:06] * ChanServ sets mode +o User_5493 for #MyChannel
[10:09] * ChanServ sets mode +o

Giuliano for #MyChannel
[10:15] * User_3636 ( has joined

Is that possible to only show the text and nothing else. I don't mind having them in the

console, so that it won't flash the application but not in the channels.

I guess it could be possible through

scripting or something like that and if someone could point me out where to start or even show me, it'd be great.

reason is we are using IRC for our live severities of network and we don't want it to popup everytime someone joins or

change his nick. The only thing that could pass is normal text. I would even like to remove that /me option so that we don't

see people who's going away... (Ex: User1 is going away... -> by using /me is going away...)

Thanks for your help,

your application is great!

The options in the IRC Events are the only ways

to place some of the events in the Console (joins, parts, quits, etc).

No other options are available, but could be

considered for future versions.

Speaking of the window flashing, is there any way to disable

that?  I've been scurrying through the options trying to turn it off.

It normally wouldn't annoy me but I have a

hidden Start bar and its pretty bad having it 'pop up' every time a msg is received while I am trying to do something

In Options/View Settings, turn off the Flash Taskbar on

Message when not Active. This should stop the taskbar from flashing on new messages.

Thanks, I feel a bit stupid now for not noticing that.
