Title: Switch to GitHub
Post by: drielnox on March 01, 2016, 10:33:49 AM
Hi, I'm new to this forum and I would like to share a suggestion for the project that I really like.
I am C # developer for several years and I've been watching the project for months since I started using, slowly, again IRC to talk to my fellow hobby.
Actually, the project could grow even more, and more people could contribute if they migrated to GitHub repository is very popular among open source projects. In addition, it would be easier tracking problems and new features they would like to users.
In addition, I have seen the code of the project and I think it can be much more "friendly" small and compact than it is now.

Cheers!

IceChat was placed on Github about a year ago.
The main problem was that I could not figure out how to easily sync the files, as it is super easy with TortoiseSVN and CodePlex.
So it was not kept up.

What is the hardest part of sync between Git and IceChat solution in Visual Studio?
It's almost like TortoiseSVN and CodePlex...

I could not find a workable solution a year ago, so it was dropped.
Now I see github has a desktop solution, so the github repository is now updated with the latest code.

I will add some links to Github from the website, and see if there are more contributors.

Thank you

Thank you for updating the repository. Soon I will be doing code analysis to suggest improvements to it.

To contribute code, I need write permissions to the repository. Is it possible that I can give such permission?

Well, thats lame.

This is why I prefer Codeplex, you can just submit patches.
I am surprised Github does not allow that.

GitHub can do that. Is that, instead of being a patch, a pull request.
